Brief History of OMU
- It was formed as Rakhine Operations Management Unit (ROMU) in 2018 after the communal Violence and ARSA attack in Rakhine State.
- After some successful consecutive years over Resilience Programs and Primary Healthcare Services in Rakhine, the Unit extended to look for other conflict affected-populations as Emergency Responses in-line with RCRC Seven Fundamental Principles to the Northwest Regions of the country.
- Due to the Unit’s existence with its extensive scope of work, which is not only in Rakhine but also in other parts of the country like Northwest Regions, the name of the unit changed to “Operations Management Unit (OMU)”.
AIM
OMU aims to strengthen its engagement with communities in Rakhine state and Northwest Region through immediate, medium, and long-term Humanitarian assistance to the people affected by communal violence, armed conflict, Complex Emergencies, and Natural Disaster.
OBJECTIVES
- To Improve health and wellbeing of the vulnerable people in Rakhine
- To build healthier and safer communities, reduce their vulnerabilities and strengthen their resilience
- To access foods and non-food items to the conflict affected peoples as Emergency Responses in Northwest Regions of the country
- To improve the Safety of Mine & UXO and more knowledgeable to the awareness of Mine Risk Education (MRE) in Rakhine and other emergency response areas of the country
- To strengthen the branches for readiness capacity in time of emergency.
