2026 – 2030 Goals and Strategy
Through its comprehensive 2026–2030 Strategy, the Myanmar Red Cross Society is committed to strengthening its humanitarian impact across the country. Aligned with the strategic priorities of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the wider Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, this five-year strategy focuses on building a stronger, more effective, and sustainable National Society. A key priority is strengthening the capacity of our branches, enabling them to better serve communities before, during, and after emergencies. By investing in the skills of our staff and volunteers, enhancing organizational systems, and deepening community engagement, we aim to improve our preparedness and response, expand access to essential humanitarian services, and build more resilient communities. Together, we are committed to creating a safer, healthier, and more compassionate organization that is better equipped to meet the humanitarian challenges of today and the future.
The strategy is built around three Strategic Goals, each supported by a set of key actions that will guide our work over the next five years. These are as follows:

- To enhance rapid and coordinated humanitarian support to the affected communities to mitigate the impacts of climate crisis, health emergencies, disasters, conflicts, and situations of violence.
- To strengthen community-driven resilience by ensuring equitable access to health, WASH, first aid and ambulance service, psychosocial support, disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, shelter, and livelihoods.
- To strengthen community capacity to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and crises through community-based training, early warning systems, and local response mechanisms.

- To promote the understanding and application of the RCRC Principles, Humanitarian Values, IHL, MRCS Law, and strengthen humanitarian diplomacy at all levels.
- To mainstream PGI and safeguarding, and CEA across all programs and humanitarian actions.
- To enhance MRCS’s role as a principled humanitarian actor through consistent auxiliary engagement and community outreach.
- To foster social cohesion, inclusion, non-violence and peaceful coexistence through volunteer-led humanitarian education and community engagement initiatives.

- To strengthen the institutional capacities and systems at all levels to deliver National Society’s core services effectively.
- To strengthen National Society’s capacity for effective response by enhancing preparedness, anticipatory action and ensuring sufficient resources at all levels.
- To empower Red Cross Youth to lead and engage in humanitarian activities while ensuring environments that enable successful implementation of their initiatives.
- To scale-up resource mobilization capacity and diversify funding streams to achieve a selfsufficient, innovative, and financially sustainable National Society.
- To further strengthen organizational management system and capacities at all levels—including HR management and development, PMER, IMT, and financial management—to enhance accountability, efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency in humanitarian activities.
- To enhance national and international cooperation, coordination and partnership mechanisms through the existing partnership framework.
Through these strategic goals and actions, the Myanmar Red Cross Society aims to enhance its capacity to provide humanitarian support and make a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
